Paralegal Positions Available within Top Federal Government Department

Allygroup is seeking passionate paralegals or junior lawyers for a secondment within a high-profile federal government department. This is an opportunity to gain experience in professional services and create long-lasting contacts in government. The position is full-time, and based in Canberra for an initial six months with high possibility for extension.

 

Key Responsibilities involve: 

  • Administer and coordinate the legal support function including assisting with freedom of information requests, customs subpoenas and S37 statements for the ART

  • Support and contribute to recruitment and ad hoc procurement 

  • Assess and direct tasks in compliance with established practices and principles.

  • Assist lawyers with research tasks and other duties as required 

 

Our Ideal Candidates will have:

  • Strong interest in government affairs and public policy

  • Strong critical thinking skills and high attention to detail

  • Strong organisational skills, efficiency, and initiative

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity and confidentiality

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Experience in a relevant legal environment (for example, as a paralegal, law clerk, junior lawyers or administrative support staff member)

 

Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship 

  • Baseline security clearance
